Section 31 of Industrial Disputes Act 1947

Penalty for other offenses

It provides that any person who contravenes the provisions of section 33 shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months or with a fine which may extend to one thousand rupees or with both.

Further, in case of any contravention of any provisions of this act, where no penalty is provided by or under the Act shall be punishable with a fine which may extend to one hundred rupees only. 

Illustration

Any person who acted in contravention of any provisions of the act to be liable for any punishment as may be mentioned. But, in case no such punishment is mentioned then in such case it shall be punishable with a fine which may extend to one hundred rupees only.
