Litigation support for North Zone and East Zone Circles & State of Gujarat

Increase the percentage of orders decided in favor of Indus.

Activities are as follows:

  • Legal Advisory on contentious matters
  • Preparing strategy to be adopted for the contentious matters
  • Drafting and vetting of pleadings filed in court
  • Research of case law
  • Briefing advocates that appear in court on behalf of Indus

Timely drafting/legal risk vetting of all Vendor/Customer agreements

The expected end result is correct Due Diligence and drafting of Contractual Agreements:

Activities are as follows:-

  • Understanding the commercials being exchanged in the contract
  • Understanding the timelines involved
  • Advising business on potential risks from legal point of view and explaining the outcome of the legal due diligence
  • Drafting the contracts/agreements after discussion with the business
  • Negotiating the contract from legal perspective with the Vendor/customer
  • Finalizing the draft agreement incorporating the decisions arrived in the negotiations
  • Vetting of drafts received from the vendors or internal costumers.
  • Explaining the risks etc. involved in signing the contract and suggesting changes to counter the risk.

Legal Scorecard (Legal Compliance Report by Chess Management; includes Site & Vendor compliance)

end result should reflect Adherence (Legal Scorecard) based on Legal compliance report of chess risk management report; Supporting Vendor Compliance.    Activities are as follows: 

  • Understanding the Legal Scorecard and legal compliance report of chess management
  • Advising and discussing with chess management on what may be seen as compliance and what cannot be taken as compliance
  • Liaising with legal teams of various circles to provide documents and extending support to Chess management
  • Ensuring various vendor compliances are captured in our agreements and Indus is duly indemnified for any vendor non-compliance
  • Preparing various reports such as monthly functional reports, reports for CEO review etc. to analyze the developments and incorporating best practices

Litigation status updates(timely data collation and circulation to JV partners and internal stakeholders)

End result  should reflect timely forwarding of complete status updates to JV partners and internal stake holders. Activities are as follows: – Liaising with circle legal teams for providing the status updates as per decided time schedule

  • Vetting the updates and suggesting corrections if any
  • Discussing the significant developments in comparison to previous updates with my manager and addressing important issues
  • Forwarding the updates to JV partners and internal stake holders as per decided time schedule
  • Collating important data from the status updates and generate further reports and/or providing information for other reports to my manager and/or counterparts.

Policy & Regulatory issues ( Municipal, local authorities, TRAI, DoT, TAIPA, COAI) as per timelines

End result would entail managing policy & regulatory issues.  Activities are as follows: 

  • Keeping a tab over various policies issued by local/municipal authorities
  • Keeping a tab over various regulatory issues implemented by TRAI and/or DoT
  • Preparing responses to the policy issues sought to be implemented by Municipal/local bodies and challenging the same in case necessary
  • Providing comments over various regulatory issues implemented by TRAI and/or DoT and assisting TAPIA and/or COAI as industry representatives in challenging the policies
  • Advisory on compliances entailing from policy issues being implemented by local authorities/ municipal authorities
  • Advisory on compliances entailing from regulatory issues being implemented by TRAI & DoT


 Minimum Educational Qualifications to perform this job

  • LLB

Knowledge Required

  • Experience in Litigation and procedure (WRITs, Civil Laws and Procedure, Criminal laws and Procedure, contracting-drafting and negotiation)
  • Experience in drafting
  • Knowledge of commercial laws and contract negotiation and drafting
  • Compliances of various Acts such as Labor laws etc.
  • Knowledge of Regulatory issues

Skills / Competencies

  • Negotiating skills
  • Command over drafting
  • Public dealing
  • Interpretation of statutes
  • Team worker

Relevant Experience (Functions, roles, duration)

  • Overall at least 6 years of experience as a lawyer
  • Preferably 3 yrs. experience in litigation related to regulatory issues
    At least 2 yrs.

Experience in the telecom Industry and handling contracts
