The Centre for Civil Society is pleased to invite you to the eBaithak with Rahul Basu which is being organised on the 21st of June 2020.

eBaithaks are essentially free-flowing discussions on a specific topic. eBaithaks follow an open group discussion format where the speaker is the moderator and principal guide for all the participants. It takes place on a virtual platform (currently Zoom), and the sessions are interactive and interpersonal, providing liberal spaces of discussion and deliberation.

About the Program

Globally, mineral wealth has been associated with a variety of poor outcomes – corruption, crony capitalism, autocracies, environmental damage, human rights violations among others. In India, it has been observed that the map of forests, minerals, indigenous people and the map of Maoist insurgency have significant overlaps.

In this e-baithak, Rahul Basu will discuss a new paradigm in managing mineral wealth that is fair, Constitutional and results in superior economic outcomes. The Shared Inheritance paradigm, being pioneered by the Goa Foundation and The Future We Need, a global people’s movement has already had significant success in Goa, India and globally.

Importantly, the Shared Inheritance paradigm should help mitigate the resource curse, achieve the SDGs, mitigate the climate breakdown and eventually put civilization on a path towards true sustainability. India is clearly ahead of the rest of the world. But will we complete what is needed?

Join them on the 21st of June from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM on Zoom as we explore this topic with Rahul Basu.

Program Date and Time: Sunday, 21 June, 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM IST
