Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth University is organizing its 4th edition of NFSI International Conference, the flagship annual international conference organized by Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth, which explores contemporary challenges from the acuity of Indian Knowledge Traditions (IKT).

About the Institution

Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth (CVV) is a Deemed-to-be-University in the ‘de novo’ category, started in 2016, the centenary year of the inspirational Visionary and Founder of Chinmaya Mission, and renowned Vedantic master and teacher par excellence, Swami Chinmayananda.

About the Event

The theme for 2020-21: Law, Public Policy and Governance: Global Future and Indian Indigenous Perspectives

This year they attempt to create dialogues around the theme “Law, Public Policy and Governance- Global Future and Indian Indigenous Perspectives”. This year, due to Covid19 vulnerabilities, the conference is organized as a series of online events, with its concluding sessions on the dates 27th-30th January 2021.

They would be exploring, re-examining, and evaluating the Indian public policy and contemporary jurisprudence from the perspective of an indigenous framework developed by the social and cultural conceptions of the Indian mind. The conference theme is further divided into subthemes, each led by a working group chaired by a special rapporteur.

  • Indian Episteme of Law and Policy led by Professor. Dr. Shrinivasa Varakhedi, Vice-Chancellor, Kavikulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University, Nagpur.
  • Public Policy, Indian Social Dynamics and the Cultural Underpinnings led by Professor Dr. Nandita Chaudhary, University of Delhi, and Former Senior Research Fellow, ICSSR.
  • Arenas of New Knowledge Production: Innovation, Disruptive technologies, and Indian Public Policy, led by Professor Dr. Nagaraj Neerchal, Vice-Chancellor, Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth.
  • India as a Vishwaguru- Indian Knowledge Traditions and preparing for the global future led by Dr. Anirudha Rajput, Member, United Nations International Law Commission.

Paper Submission Categories

Papers may be submitted in the following categories:

  • Research Papers of not more than 8000 words, including footnotes.
  • Review of Literature papers, between 4000-6000 words, including footnotes.

Propose Panels

Participation in the group is invited through an open call for panel proposals. Interested scholars may submit a proposal (in the form of a concept note) to the working group to host a panel on any topic that shares a scholarly connection to the theme of the respective working groups. Please visit www.nfsi.cvv.ac.in

Panel Proposals must have a minimum of 3 papers by different authors focussed on a common theme. The maximum number of papers must not be more than 6 papers. Please note that 5th and 6th papers shall be allowed to present only in exceptional cases. Also, the NFSI team reserves the right to select a few or all of the papers submitted to the panel in consultation with the proposer.

Submission Guidelines

All submissions are preferred in Time New Roman font, font size 12, the spacing of 1.5. The title and any subheading shall be of font size 14 and bold. All submissions shall adhere to a uniform citation style. Submission can also be co-authored by two or more authors. The abstract shall be a minimum of 500 words excluding with references/bibliography.

Submission Process

All submissions shall be submitted to the web portal provided in www.nfsi.cvv.ac.in. No other medium of submission shall be accepted. All submissions shall indicate the name of the author, institution details, and title of the submission.

Submission Deadline & Fees

Paper submissions:

The abstract of the paper shall be submitted on or before 20th November 2020 and the full text to be submitted by 20th December 2020, if abstracts are selected. Submission fee is Rs. 1000/-

Panel Proposal

The panel proposal must be in the form of a concept note of discussion of not more than 1000 words and must be submitted along with abstracts of the papers to be presented in the panel on or before 20th November 2030. The full text of the papers upon request, before 10th December 2020. Panel Proposal Fee is Rs. 2000/- (clarification: for a panel proposal; no need to pay separate fees for each paper).

Fee Details and Discounts

NFSI Annual Membership: Rs. 2000/- (Member will be allowed to attend or access any of the events conducted by any of the Four Working Groups, upto 1 year. Renewal Feeds applicable after one year.) One paper may be submitted to one of the working groups of your choice without a submission fee. Additional submissions will need separate payments.

NFSI Follow Working Group: Rs 1500/- (Access to all events conducted by the preferred working group until 31st March 2021). One paper may be submitted to the respective working group. Additional submissions will need separate payments.

There are no discounts or special allowance to panel proposals.

Selection of Papers, Presentation, Web Archives, and Publication

All full paper submissions will be peer-reviewed and evaluated based on originality, technical and/or research depth, accuracy and relevance to conference theme and topics. Shortlisted papers would be invited to present at the conference. As mentioned earlier, the presentations will happen online, according to the dates allotted. The web archives will be created for access of NFSI delegates and members. Selected Papers may also be requested to present during the concluding sessions of the conference.

Selected papers would be given an opportunity to publish as part of a peer-reviewed journal or chapter in an edited volume, depending upon the quality of the papers. The working committee rapporteurs will have the final discretion in this regard. They would also have their paper spotlighted in the concluding sessions.
