Your department:

The group legal department has offices worldwide, particularly in Europe in Oslo, Valencia, Madrid, Milan, Lyon, Düsseldorf and Amsterdam. For our office in Düsseldorf, we are now looking for a legal counsel who will support an international team of experienced lawyers who provide cross-border legal advice at the interface of law, technology and business.

The department oversees the legal affairs of the Statkraft Group and supports the operationally and commercially active units in the Statkraft Group across all functions. In one of the leading energy companies, it is important to grasp the technical and economic interrelationships, to classify the legal problems in their respective contexts and finally to solve them appropriately and pragmatically.

Your tasks:

The topics to be dealt with come from a wide variety of areas of law, such as energy industry and regulatory law, general civil and contract law, plant construction law, corporate and commercial law, public law or procedural law.

In detail, your area of responsibility includes the following activities:

  1. Commercial law advice for the entire Statkraft Group in Germany
  2. Legal support of energy trading (in particular procurement and marketing of electricity from renewable energies) in Europe, project development, electromobility and energy generation in Germany
  3. Negotiation, examination and preparation of contracts, preparation of legal investigations and statements for energy trading, plant construction, electromobility and energy generation
  4. Legal support of innovative and complex projects in the field of renewable energies in the context of the energy transition
  5. Support of legal disputes and arbitration proceedings as well as associated strategic advice
  6. Mandate and coordination of external lawyers
  7. Support of other service departments (Finance, Tax, Treasury) in legal issues
  8. Implementation of the relevant laws and regulations in contracts as well as internal processes

Your profile:

  1. Full-time lawyer with above-average degrees
  2. 3-7 years of relevant professional experience in energy industry law, energy trading and/or plant construction law, in particular in a law firm, an association or a company, is an advantage
  3. Strong ability to communicate and work in a team
  4. Fluent English
  5. Understanding of economic interrelationships
  6. Analytical and conceptual approach
  7. High assertiveness
  8. High level of integrity
  9. Success-oriented and self-reliant way of working
