About the role:

This role sits within the People, Talent, Legal & Ethics Team. The Legal and Compliance Manager will report into ASI’s Legal and Compliance Counsel. The Legal and Compliance Manager will provide support across our legal, ethics and compliance function, with primary responsibilities for contract management and third party due diligence.

The postholder will manage ASI’s contracting process, building colleagues’ understanding of the contract management framework, ensuring appropriate contract templates are available, ensuring contracts are issued in accordance with laws, regulations and commitments, and that risks to ASI are managed appropriately. The postholder will also lead on third party due diligence, and will support the Legal and Compliance Counsel with global corporate registrations and compliance, monitoring and reporting on compliance and support to the Board and Trustees.

The Legal and Compliance Manager will work closely with the London-based People and Talent, Legal and Ethics team as well as with Regional Directors, Project Directors and  Project Managers in other offices across the world. Working with colleagues across the world, much of your daily interaction will be remote using video conferencing software, however you will also have the benefit of working side-by- side with our People and Talent team in the Delhi office (subject to the COVID situation).

Key tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Manage a variety of international client and supplier contracts worldwide in accordance with legal requirements, company policies and procedures and client requirements
  • Review contracts, identify and assess material risk to the company and provide guidance accordingly
  • Work with the Legal and Compliance Counsel to periodically review and update contract management tools, templates, methods and processes
  • Work with the Legal and Compliance Counsel to update training materials and deliver training to the Company on the contract management process
  • Manage our electronic signature software, preparing and issuing documents for signature and ensure contracts are appropriately stored
  • Manage our third-party due diligence process including our electronic software and monitor the quality of due diligence conducted by the business on its supply chain
  • Support the Legal and Compliance Counsel to ensure company registrations and other compliance submissions are achieved accurately and timely
  • Periodically review and update company policies and to reflect legal or regulatory updates or to otherwise reduce compliance risk
  • Support the Head of Middle East and North Africa (MENA) by acting as Compliance Officer for the MENA region
  • Support the Head of Internal Audit in carrying out and reporting on investigations
  • Drafting reports for publication or for clients on compliance matters including fraud, corruption, safeguarding and supply chain management
  • Manage the compliance documentation for client contracts and downstream subcontractors
  • Manage logs for conflicts of interest and gifts and hospitality
  • Provide advice to colleagues on a wide range of legal and compliance matters

  • Eligibility to work in Delhi, India
  • Graduate in law or relevant subject
  • Excellent spoken and written English language
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • A strong team player, with the ability to build effective relationships working remotely and high emotional intelligence
  • Tech savvy, with demonstrated ability to quickly develop expertise with new software, and excellent capability with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Previous experience working in the legal or compliance field advantageous
  • Prior contract management experience advantageous
  • Achievement oriented and accountable, with a determination to complete work to a high standard
  • Organised, with excellent administration skills
  • Proactive and resourceful, with the ability to work under pressure and to tight timelines
  • Trustworthy with respect for confidentiality
