Centre for Civil Society is organizing a Virtual Campus Talk on How liberal is India’s Constitution? with Prashant Narang, Associate Director-Research on 4th September 2020.

The Virtual Campus Talk will be conducted in collaboration with Students for the Promotion of International Law, Mumbai. The Campus Talk is part of the Indian Liberals Project and is supported by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom.

In this session, they will explore and analyse liberalism within the Indian Constitutional framework and further put to test how it has fared historically on the question of Rule of Law, which is one of the cardinal principles of liberalism and International liberal order. They will also discuss the challenges associated with constitutional liberalism and the ways in which they affect contemporary public policy.

About the Speaker

Prashant Narang is an entrepreneur-turned-advocate presently working as Associate Director – Research, CCS.  His most significant contributions at CCS include the Ease of Doing Business reforms recommendations and the Street Vendor Compliance Index. He has represented the street vendors before various courts – right from the courts of Municipal Magistrate to the Supreme Court of India. He recently submitted his doctoral thesis on the constitutional right to carry on business and trade in India to the Center for the Study of Law and Governance at Jawaharlal Nehru University.
