The Literary and Debating Club is the oldest and most prestigious club of NIT Calicut, nurturing the spirit of the institute for over half a century.
With the World Mental Health Day coming up on the 10th of October, they are organizing a talk on “Mental Health in Schools and Colleges” with Dr. S Girija, MBBS, MSc Psychology and PhD in Behavioral Science.
Today’s youth, especially students, experience disabling levels of anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions. In these trying times mental health is a key issue for all educational institutions and now, more than ever, we need to support student wellbeing.
This calls for a dialogue on “Mental Health in Schools and Colleges” to bring about appropriate sensitivity towards the topic. Following up on our efforts for the Mental Illness Awareness week, The Literary & Debating Club will be taking up this discussion.
About the Speaker
Dr. S Girija, MBBS, MSc Psychology and PhD in Behavioral Science.
She is a professional counselor and medical consultant who has spent umpteen years treating and helping others through her professional and social endeavors.
They aim to raise awareness and conduct dialogues on the issues of stigmatization and mental health through her experience in the field.
