About the Organisers
Students for Liberty (SFL) is an International libertarian non-profit organisation whose mission is to “educate, develop, and empower the next generation leaders of liberty.” Formed in 2008, SFL has since grown into a full organisation with various programs and a network of affiliated student groups in North America, Europe, Latin America, Africa, South Asia and the Asia-Pacific.
Students for Liberty is the world’s largest law and academically market-oriented movement of students who have been deliberating and focusing on essential policy issues that our societies face.
About the Program
South Asia Students For Liberty invites participants for the Expert Class with Mr. Jerry Johnson at 2 PM on September 5, 2020.
The topic of the Expert Class: Identity Politics in India: Understanding Gender Biases in India
About the Speaker
- The esteemed Speaker for the session will be Mr. Jerry Johnson, who is an Indian writer and speaker engaged in exploring issues related to culture, diversity, identity and empowerment. As an inspirational speaker, he has been seen at TEDxSinghagad, TEDxJHC, and the curator of TEDxChurchgate, which was Bombay’s first TEDxCity2.0 conference.
- He has also co-authored the book “I Am Divine. So Are You” published by Harper Collins, which confronts the dignity of queer lives within the framework of Indian religious identities.
What is the Expert Class?
The Expert Class is a discussion forum that allows an open exchange of ideas between the Speaker and participants. The forum hosts a Speaker who is an expert at the topic of the discussion, and who also moderates the event in a ‘classroom’ format – one may ask questions to the Speaker in the midst of the session, seek clarifications to satiate the curious mind and even think of further ‘submissions’ on the topic!
Why the Expert Class?
The integral component of the forum is its purpose: to allow a free-flowing discussion between the Speaker and ‘students’ and seek answers to the difficult and unthought-of questions.
