Gujarat National Law University, through its Centre for Law and Economics, is delighted to announce that it is organizing ‘GNLU Academy on Law and Economics’ from 25th August 2020 – 30th August 2020.
The Academy will be unique learning experience with personalities such as Professor Thomas Ulen, Professor Tom Ginsburg, Professor Nuno Garoupa, Professor Hans-Bernd Schäfer, Professor Ram Singh and other renowned experts dealing with interdisciplinary study of economic tools along with numerous arenas of legal study.
About the Course
Economics lets one examine the choices made, given the various constraints they have. As the constraints change, behaviour changes as well. Be it Legislature, Executive or Judiciary, any decision-making body as well gives considerable attention towards impact analysis through economic tools.
It becomes pertinent to read Law and Economics, wherein economic tools are used to better understand the law and to find its efficiency and working. It permits the greater use of economics to examine the law in addition to recognizing the importance of law to an analysis of the economy.
Keeping the objective in mind, the course will aim at providing an insight to learners regarding the application of economic approach in legal arena by touching numerous areas of law such as Constitutional law, Competition law, Finance law, Mediation law, Environmental law, Capital Markets, Policy-Making etc.
The purpose of this course will be to help participants explore the legal areas through an outlook focusing upon the greatest good to respective stakeholders. It will also help them to identify limitations and functions and solutions to improve the quality of respective legal fields.
Duration
Minimum three sessions will be conducted every day for 06 days from 25th – 30th August 2020, starting 02:30 PM onwards.

Under Graduate students, Post Graduate students or Research Scholars pursuing (Law, Social Science, Commerce,
Management), Professionals and Academicians.
Fee Details
Students and Research Scholars: Rs. 500/-
Academicians and Professionals: Rs. 750/-
Note: Certificate of Participation will be provided upon successful completion of the Academy.
