About Law and Other Things
Started in 2005, Law and Other Things is India’s first online portal devoted to debates and ideas in constitutionalism, legal history, and public policy. True to its description as ‘A blog about India’s legal system, its Courts and its Constitution’, the blog seeks to publish engaging and insightful articles on matters of general public law.
The blog has been cited in numerous law review articles, legal books and most recently by a Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court. The blog is widely read by judges, lawyers, law professors, judicial clerks, and law students across the country.
It is also followed in many Commonwealth countries including the UK, Australia, Singapore, Kenya, Malaysia, and South Africa. The Blog is currently managed by a Student Editorial Board from NALSAR University of Law.

Submission Guidelines
- The topic must be within the scope of the blog, i.e. it must be related to an area of public law. For reference, please look at the posts on our website.
- The post should preferably make an argument or assertion substantiated by reasoning and relevant facts. Language need not be strictly academic, but it should be formal.
- The piece should not exceed 1200 words. Longer pieces may be split into multiple parts for better readability, if the topic calls for it, however the same is discouraged.
- All references should be provided as hyperlinks instead of citations, unless an online source is unavailable. We’re unable to review pieces which have not hyperlinked sources.
- Please make your submissions through the contact form available here. Please do refer to our detailed guidelines on the same page, which also outline the review process, before sending in your pieces.
