Telangana High Court issued notices to the State Government to file a counter explaining the stand on a Petition against the new Dharani land portal and, therefore, the method during which the Government is seeking to upload details on the website.

Submission of the Petitioners

The Petition was filed by two Petitioners. One petitioner is GR Karunakar of Rangareddy district. The other Petitioner is CV Narayana Rao of Hyderabad.

The Petitioners said that the officials collected all types of taxes. So, the revenue and municipal officials had details of the properties. The officials knew who the owners were. They had their records to speak about it. But the officials were asking people to upload details onto the Dharani website. It led to several discrepancies. And, the litigation was really needless.

They said that the exercise was not followed by the law. They sought an interim stay on the entire activity. They also sought a declaration from the Court whether the continued exercise was illegal.

Prayer of the Petitioners

The Petitioners questioned the government’s decision. They asked the property owners to upload their details on their own.

Submission of the Respondent

The Advocate General BS Prasad said that the government had a purpose. They wanted to streamline things to make life easy for ordinary people. Also, they want to save people from being duped by unscrupulous elements.

The Advocate General opposed any interim relief at this stage. He said that he would explain the purpose and objective of the state’s decision. Also, he sought time for some time to file a counter.

The Decision of the Court

The Court refused to grant any interim relief to the Petitioners. Justice Shameem Akther asked the government to file its counter within one week.
