High Court of Gauhati Hears PIL for Non-Implementation of Funds for Various Schemes in Nagaland

Introduction

A PIL filed by the Global Trust Club raising the issue concerned with the non-implementation of schemes such as Swachh Bharat Mission in Nagaland despite funds being given by the Center for the said purposes.

Facts of the Case

The Petitioner filed a PIL and pleaded that there has been no notable implementation of schemes such as Swachh Bharat Mission in Nagaland despite funds being given by the Center for the said purposes. As a result, the same issues concerning public importance are affected as well such as the supply of drinking water to rural areas and other such works of public purposes are not being properly implemented.

Decision of the Court

The Bench of Justice Sudhansu Dhulia and Justice Achintya Malla Bujor Barua heard the plea filed as a Public Interest Litigation safer hearing the case stated that prima facie, of the opinion that the petition raised an issue of public importance Ms L. Devi, learned counsel, appearing on behalf of Mr R.K.D. Choudhury, learned Assistant Solicitor General of India, accepts notice on behalf of the Respondent. The Court also stated that since all the Respondents are duly represented by the respective learned counsel, no formal steps are called for in this case. Furthermore given the liberty to the Respondents to file a counter affidavit within three weeks from the date of judgement.
