The Counsel is an intermediate position responsible for managing a variety of day-to-day legal activities in coordination with the Legal team. The overall objective of this role is to provide legal support, advice and guidance across the regional Markets & Securities Services legal team, in particular the Rates & Currencies and Global Spread Products teams
Responsibilities:
- Assisting with legal and documentation coverage of rates, currencies and credit trading, asset financing / securitization transactions and structured products as part of the Rates & Currencies & Global Spread Products teams
- Day-to-day functions include working on legal and regulatory matters, business development, transactional and advisory work, documentation and participation in industry-based initiatives
- Resolve problems, escalating to senior staff as needed
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency
Qualifications:
- 5-8 years of experience
- Valid Bar license to practice law
- Banking/financial industry experience or experience working at a large law firm
- Comprehensive knowledge of local, state and federal laws and practices
- Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication
- Proven analytical and organizational skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
