Role Purpose:
Jumio is looking for a commercially-focused lawyer to support the company’s global operations as Corporate Counsel. This role will report to the General Counsel and be based in the company’s Bangalore offices.
While this role will primarily support the APAC sales team, you will also support the business generally, including in respect to corporate matters, data privacy, employment, real estate, and general business and commercial law matters.
Responsibilities:
- Commercial contracting — work closely with APAC sales team to negotiate SaaS B2B customer, partner and supplier agreements from start to finish;
- Data privacy and information security — provide support in this subject area, particularly from a sales and compliance perspective;
- Employment matters — counsel HR team and manage external HR counsel;
- Corporate matters — assist in managing corporate governance requirements for APAC-based subsidiaries;
- Support varied other in-house legal matters as needed;
- Travel — periodically to one of Jumio’s global locations or as inbound or outbound commercial negotiations require
Experience and Qualifications:
- Licensed attorney in APAC (or registered in-house counsel)
- Extremely practical approach to practicing law within a company setting
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- True team player with unimpeachable ethics
- Superb organizational and project-management skills
- Enthusiastic personality and keen sense of humor
- Responsible, accountable, self-starter and results-driven
- Excellent English language skills, both verbal and written
