UPSC Aspirants Will Get Second Attempt for UPSC Examination: Centre Tells Supreme Court

The UPSC test was held on October 4th 2020. Most of the candidates were last time candidates. All of them, collectively filed a petition before the Supreme Court seeking a second attempt. It was contended in the petition that, “preparations for their preliminary examination to be held on October 4, 2020, were affected due to the coronavirus epidemic.”

NCW Moves To SC Against Bombay HC’s Controversial Skin-To-Skin Judgment

The National Commission for Women has moved to the Supreme Court challenging the controversial Skin-To-Skin Judgment of the Bombay High Court that ruled groping a minor without skin-to-skin contact is not a sexual assault as defined under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences. On January 27th this judgment was stayed by Chief Justice S A Bobde after Attorney General K K Venugopal that the decision is unprecedented and is likely to set a dangerous precedent.

PIL Filed in Delhi High Court Regarding Non Payment of Salaries of Sanitation Workers

The pandemic and pandemic induced lockdown brought the entire world to a standstill. There were a few people who even during the lockdown, risked their lives to save the lives of others. Healthcare workers, police official etc are recognised for their work during the lockdown, however, sanitation workers, ‘safai karamcharis’ as there are also known face a very different scenario. They were not even paid their salaries for their work or even provided with adequate safety gear.
