The Punjab and Haryana High Court, on December 22’ 2020, passed a judgement making it clear that the alleged illegality of a marriage solemnized without the consent of the groom’s first wife is not a relevant factor for providing protection to the couple.

The entire nation is very well aware of the fact that the protests are still going on against the recently passed Farms Bill. While the rate of suicides has increased, the farmers from all over India are still standing strong and protesting.

The High Court of Madras, on December 18’ 2020, granted police protection to an Advocate who was suspended by the Nagercoil Bar Association for not abiding by the Boycott Call of the Association. The court said that the Bar Council Leaders are not Political Leaders and they can’t call Strikes when People are approaching the Courts for Grievance Redressal.

In the said case, Kerala High Court permits partly to a Petition that seeks a decree for specific performance of Contract for Sale.

The Rajasthan HC observed that Courts cannot replace the policy decisions made by the State Governments under the powers conferred upon it by the Indian Constitution unless the policy was found to be arbitrary and unreasonable, and therefore allowed for the decision of the government to prevail while determining school fees.

The Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court ruled that possession of skin of dead animals would not amount to an offence under the Maharashtra Animal Preservation Act, 1976 which prohibits slaughtering, importing, exporting, and possessing beef.

The case has four plaintiffs, where the first one is a publication giant Elsevier, which publishes more than 2,500 journals, including The Lancet. As is evident from the statements in the suit, ScienceDirect, the proprietary database through which Elsevier generally provides access to their journal contents, acts as a toll-gate to a quarter of the world’s peer-reviewed, full-text a scientific, technical, and medical literature.

The Maharashtra Government has been asked by the Bombay High Court’s Aurangabad bench to decide whether the benefit of 10 percent reservation under the Economically Weaker Section category is applicable to those who avail benefits under the now-stayed Maratha Reservations.

The Madurai bench of Madras High Court on Monday has directed the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry to take appropriate action against Nagercoil Bar Association for calling for a strike in support of the farmers under section 14 (a) of the Tamil Nadu Advocates’ Welfare Fund Act, 1987.

The petition was filed against the cancellation of the process for reservation and rotation of seats for the members of municipalities, the Court held that since the delegation of power by the Deputy Commissioner to the SDOs was illegal and void, the Court need not interfere in the cancellation done by the Deputy Commissioner.
