On the grounds that actor Amitabh Bachchan himself along with his family members had been infected by a coronavirus, a petition has been filed to remove the megastar’s voice from the caller tune on precautions against coronavirus.
The plea said there were some Corona warriors willing to give their services for free. These warriors came up for hearing on January 7th before a bench of Justice Jyoti Singh and Justice D.N Patel.
As the petitioner’s counsel could not be present physically for the hearing, the bench listed it for Jan 18.
The petition was filed by a Delhi resident and a social worker Rakesh. In his petition, he argued that the government engaged Mr. Amitabh Bachchan to spread awareness about coronavirus and the star himself could not escape it.
The plea observed that Amitabh Bachchan is being paid to chant such preventive measures on the ringtone. It added that there are many corona warriors who are doing great service in these tough times. They are helping the poor and needy by giving them basic amenities like food, water, and shelter. It is also heartwarming to note that there are many people who are giving away their hard-earned money to the poor.
The plea says that there are many people even now who are ready to give their service for free. On the other hand, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan is said to not have a very clean history and is not serving the nation despite being a social worker.
The petitioner said he had made representation to the authorities about the same earlier, but seeking no response he decided to approach the court.
“…remove the caller tune of Amitabh Bachchan of corona from the mobile in the interest of justice,” the plea sought.
