The Rajasthan High Court Issues Order for Police Protection To a Newly Married Couple To Protect Their Life and Personal Liberty

A petition was filed by the petitioners under Section 482 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) to seek police protection as their lives and personal liberty were at risk. Further, the same was granted by the High Court of Rajasthan on the basis of two reasons. First, Article 21 of the Indian Constitution guarantees protection to life and personal liberty. Second, Section 29 of the Rajasthan Police Act, 2017 bounds the police officers to give protection to every citizen.

Supreme Court: Patriarchal & Stereotypical Notion About Women Should Be Avoided by Courts and Judges Be Trained on Gender Sensitisation

In a judgement on 18 March 2021; the Supreme Court ruled down that judges should avoid using patriarchal and stereotypical notions about women and suggested that the judges should be trained on gender sensitization. It was also ruled that the course on gender sensitization should be included in LLB and AIBE syllabus.
