Obstruction of Oxygen Tankers by One State Would Have Snowballing Effect, Also Amounts To Endangering Of Hundreds of Human Lives: Delhi High Court

In the present case, the court was hearing certain petitions filed by the Petitioners over the issues of shortage of oxygen for treating seriously ill COVID patients; black-marketing of oxygen cylinders; the testings, and infrastructure.  Further, during the hearing, the Court was notified about the detention of four cryogenic tankers on their way to the national capital by the Rajasthan government. Pulling up the State of Rajasthan for this detention, the Delhi High Court observed that any interference in the Central Government’s plan for supplying medical oxygen in the Country would “tantamount to endangering hundreds of human lives, if not more.”

Supreme Court Says Discrimination Caused by Intersecting Identities, Gender and Disability Amplifies Violence Against Certain Communities

An appeal was filed before the Supreme Court of India after  being aggrieved by the judgment of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh. The High Court affirmed the conviction of the Appellant for offenses punishable under Section 3(2)(v) of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989 and Section 376(1) of the Indian Penal Code. In this case, the Supreme Court in detail points out the violence faced by the women based on gender, caste, disability, etc.

Karnataka High Court Allows Writ Petition by Remitting It Back to Learned Single Judge for Reconsideration

A writ petition was allowed by Karnataka High Court on 22nd April, appealing under Section 4 of the Karnataka High Court Act to set aside an order dated 16th June 2017 by a learned Single Judge. Earlier, the appellants challenged the order of the State Government dated 18th June 2014 regarding the verification of the linguistic minority status of an educational institute.
