On 26th February, a Single Judge Bench consisting of Hon’ble Mr Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas heard the case of P.M.Raju v. the State Of Kerala.

In this case, the Accused was found guilty for the offence under Section 304 IPC (Punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 5 years and to pay a fine of Rs.1,50.000/-. An appeal was filed aggrieved by this conviction. 

The Calcutta High Court on 26th February 2021 while disposing of the above Writ Petition, issued directions to the State Government of West Bengal to ensure that COVID-19 guidelines and safety precautions shouldn’t be ignored but to be followed thereto.

The Calcutta High Court on 25th February 2021 rejected the petition filed under Section 34 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 by remarking that there was no scope of challenging and dismissed order under Section 16 of the Act.

The Calcutta High Court on 24th February 2021 dismissed the petition by reaffirming that the petitioner was validly disqualified for the post of constable (GD) in CAPF on account of the mallet in the right ring finger.

The Calcutta High Court on 22nd February 2021, recalled its order of an injunction passed in a trademark dispute as the Judge presiding over the case had appeared for one party in respect of the same trademark in the past.
