Poor maintenance of Toiletry Facilities in Educational Institutions, Patna High Court remarked. It was due to lack of funding and thus it required urgent upgradation.

Facts

The instant case came to light on the report given by a Committee constituted by the High Court. The Committee had the responsibility to visit different Educational Institutions. The infrastructures’ sanitation and hygiene status got brought before the Court. The Principal of institutions submitted that the funds by several schemes were inadequate.

Arguments Advanced

Learned Counsel for the State submitted that the police at the School got transferred. Further, it argued that to use the toilets, the security guards would live at the school. Thus, the Learned Counsel pleaded that such toilets should have open access for all. 

Court’s Observations 

A Division Bench stated that the surveyed place was even unfit for animals. It was further observed that the place was ill-maintained. The Court thus suggested measures to raise the required funds.

The Court also ordered access to toilets within the student’s campus. 

Judgment

The Hon’ble Court listed the instant matter for further hearing on 15th April 2021. The Education Department received directions to fulfil the required deficiencies in the report.
