Orissa High Court Sets Date to Assess Pending Cases In Administrative Tribunal

Contents of this Page

The Orissa HC has set July 16, 2020 as the date to take stock of the status of pending cases. This applies to cases pending before the Odisha Administrative Tribunal (OAT) after its abolition.

Facts Of The Case

The Court fixed the date after a State Govt. employee moved it for permission to withdraw petition pending before the OAT. 74000 cases were pending before the OAT, waiting to get transferred to the High Court.

Petitioner’s Submissions

The petitioner submits that the Court shall review the number of matters pending before the Tribunal. Additionally, it should review those that have already been transferred to this court.

Court’s Order

The Court fixed 16th July as the date for cases that were pending before the OAT along with the report of the Addn. Government Advocate (AGA). It was not possible for the Court to transfer all pending cases due to an interim stay order issued by the Orissa HC on a petition filed by the OAT Bar Association.
