Bar Council of India: Universities Can Conduct Online Exams for Final Year Students Only

The COVID-19 pandemic is increasing day by day. In this peculiar situation, the Bar Council of India issued some guidelines. Here the Press Release Date of the guidelines was 09.06.20. It is for conducting online examinations in law schools across India.

Guidelines

The Bar Council of India has issued different guidelines for students. The guidelines are for end semester students and intermediate semesters students. The Council, in its guidance, mentioned that only final year students of 3 years and 5 years L.L.B. Honours courses may allow giving online exams. The Council also suggested an alternative method. In case, it is not possible for some Universities to conduct online exams. The University can choose other ways to meet their requirements. The University can also ask students to write research papers or projects. Another method that they can choose is to double the internal marks. University can double internal marks that have already conducted for this semester.

The University to conduct online exams for backlog papers. This guideline applies to final year students. Project submissions can also be asked for backlog exams for final year students. So that students can also clear supplementary exams as soon as possible.

The Council also released guidelines for intermediate semester students. The Council said that the University should pass intermediate semester students. It is on the basis of their performance in the previous semester. Along with the performance of the internal examinations conducted for this semester. In case, any University wants to perform physical exams. The University should conduct within a month of reopening of the colleges.

The Council further directed universities to follow the COVID-19 protocol. They should also follow social distancing norms within the campus. Also, Universities to sanitize campus and classrooms from time to time. The Council also urged universities to maintain high academic standards in conducting examinations.
