About the Job:

Position: Program Analyst/Junior Program Analyst

Term: Full-time

Location: Mumbai, India

Remuneration: Competitive

The Role:

This position would suit a dynamic individual at an early stage of their career, who not only possesses legal skills but a passion for social justice. iProbono India is looking for an individual who wants to build their career with us and be part of iProbono for the long term.

The successful candidate will possess a sound knowledge of the Indian legal system and must have good communication skills. iProbono India prefers 1-3 years of work experience in the relevant sectors. They should be highly organised, able to multitask as well as being a results-driven team player. They need to be a self-starter and be able to work independently where required while providing essential support to the Programs Managers.

Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinating transactional projects, which entails working closely with network lawyers and CSOs seeking legal support.
  2. Reaching out to non-profit and civil society organisations across Mumbai to initiate new partnerships.
  3. Attending court hearings, coordinating with panel lawyers and keeping notes of follow-up action required.
  4. Documentation (updating the iProbono in-house database, updating and creating case notes, updating litigation management notes and dates of hearings).
  5. Collecting feedback from partner lawyers and organisations.
  6. Organising and executing workshops and training for iProbono India’s partner organisations and their beneficiaries.
  7. Legal research and writing.

Skills and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in law. 
  • 1-3 years work experience with a law firm, a non-profit, or similar civil society organisations.
  • Applications from suitable fresh graduates are welcome.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Indian legal system or experience working with the legal sector.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and one South Asian language.
  • Working knowledge of Marathi would be preferred.
  • High level of proficiency with MS Office, database management and internet skills.
  • Comfort working independently and as part of a small team.
