  • The Assistant Vice President is a mid-level position responsible for providing legal support, advice and guidance on a broad range of business products that the Global Loans legal team supports in APAC.
  • Responsibilities:
  • The successful candidate will work closely with the ICG Global Loans team and in particular the teams in Mumbai, Hong Kong, Tampa (USA) and Belfast (UK), Citi Legal Country Counsels in APAC, the Corporate Bankers and Risk Management in APAC.
  • Reviewing and advising on a wide range of loan documentation, including confidentiality agreements, marketing materials, commitment documentation, uncommitted and committed loan documentation, guarantees, amendment and waiver documentation and legal opinions.
  • This position demands the candidate to work independently to provide legal advice on a business product that he/she supports. The candidate is expected to analyze documentation against regulatory requirements and internal policies. The candidate should have the ability to identify issues that are to be escalated to senior members within Legal and manage discussions with Risk, Compliance, Business and other stakeholders on a routine basis and appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made.
  • It is expected that the candidate demonstrates consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its client, by driving compliance with applicable laws and adhering to Citi policies and apply sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices.
  • Qualifications:
  • 6 or more years of experience.
  • Prior Banking/financial industry experience or experience of working in a law firm is a plus.
  • Skills/Competencies:
  • Ability to multi task and take personal responsibility/ownership of a number of projects concurrently.
  • Exceptional communication skills (both written and oral) and clarity of expression.
  • Proactive and shows initiative.
  • Co-operative, team oriented and collaborative working style.
  • Effective planning, organisation and prioritisation skills with ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Good attention to detail.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
