Tel Aviv University (TAU) Law, the oldest law school in Israel, traces its roots to the Tel Aviv School of Law and Economics established in 1935.

Our law school is home to more than 40 full-time faculty members and over 25 renowned visiting professors, each of who are internationally recognized in their areas of expertise.

These are complemented by dozens of adjunct lecturers that teach a broad range of academic disciplines and legal fields.

Approximately 1,600 students from Israel and from more than 20 countries worldwide attend the Faculty annually.

About the LLM Program

The Parasol Foundation International LL.M Program at Tel Aviv University Faculty of Law is a 10-month program that brings outstanding students from all over the world for a rigorous LL.M. degree.

The program language of instruction is English and the focus of the LL.M. is international law.

Students can choose a general course of study or may specialize in:

The rigorous academic curriculum is based on innovative approaches to legal theory, providing law students analytical tools and skills to engage in serious academic research and practical insights.

Classes explore contemporary challenges to law that stem from the processes of globalization to specific courses on the Israeli legal and social systems, the complexities of the Middle East region and the legal aspects of the Start-up Nation.

The curriculum consists of courses, seminars and workshops.

The selection of courses will allow students to pursue several disciplines and explore the legal fields of their choosing. The program also enables the participants to choose electives from the rich variety of English-language graduate programs.

Specializations:

International Law & Human Rights

The goal of the International Law & Human Rights Track is to provide students with tools that will enable them to identify and explore the emerging global regulatory regimes in the fields of human rights and humanitarian law, environmental and cultural heritage protection, trade and investment regulation, and other fields.

As well as to assess the normative challenges that these regime pose to our democratic sensibilities and reflect on the possibilities for shaping these global institutions and their policies through accountability requirements of transparency, participation, reason-giving, liability, and judicial review.

This track is therefore attractive not only to students interested in international law but also to those whose passion is constitutional law and administrative law and those who wish to gain the tools to address problems of public law and policy in an era of global interdependency.

Law & Technology

Welcome to the beating heart of Start-Up Nation!  Do you have a memory stick?  Flash memory was invented a few buildings away from our law school, at the Faculty of Engineering at TAU.  Do you use online banking?  Your bank probably uses a firewall invented in Israel.  Does your car have MobilEye installed?  That too was developed nearby, in Jerusalem.

There is a reason why Google, Facebook, Amazon, IBM, Intel, HP and other global hi-tech companies have established research centers in Israel.  We are in the midst of an information revolution, with Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, and a mobile revolution converging.

Our Law & Technology track focuses on the interface of law and technology.  The track offers courses on Intellectual Property (IP), cyber and information law, and other related issues.

Business Law​

Our Business Law track focuses on the fundamentals of business strategy catered to a legal audience. The course topics and frameworks are drawn from business law as well as MBA curriculums of leading schools abroad.

The track offers courses on an array of topics: Startup Financing and Governance, Shareholder Activism, Issues in Competition Law, Negotiations in the Technology Industry, and related issues. Together, we offer a range of courses that are second to none.

Application Procedures:

Create a student profile on the application portal and upload the following documents:

  • Law degree transcript(s) & diploma(s)
  • Law school ranking
  • Completed online application form
  • CV or resume
  • Personal Statement (essay)
  • Two letters of recommendation

TOEFL or IELTS score

An English-language proficiency exam must be taken before July 1, and official scores should be sent directly to the TAU International office by the testing agency. TAU International’s ETS code is 7704.

The minimum scores on the TOEFL test are written 582, computer-based 223, or internet-based 89.

The minimum overall bandwidth score on the IELTS test is 7.

Exemption may be granted – please inquire with the Admissions Director.

Fees

Tuition for the 2020-2021 academic year is USD $21,000.

  • Tuition includes administration fees, health insurance, access to university libraries, and a number of social events and trips.
  • Housing, meals, transportation and incidentals are not included in the tuition fees.

Scholarships:

Merit-based scholarships will be offered to promising candidates according to academic qualifications and in order to promote diversity.

Applicants to the International LL.M. program will be automatically considered for scholarships based on prior academic and professional achievement.

Accepted students to the International LL.M. program can also apply for need-based aid.
