About the Book

Electronic waste or E-waste describes as the discarded electrical or electronic devices. The used electronics which are destined for refurbishment, reuse, recovery, salvage recycling through material recovery, or disposal are also considered e-waste. Most electronic waste goes through a recycling system called a WEEE (waste Electronic and Electronic Equipment), which not only recycles 95-98% by weight, of all e-waste passed through it, but ensues that any date left on hard drives and memories are thoroughly destroyed too.

E-waste management is a great challenge for governments of many developing countries such as India. This is becoming a huge public health issue and is exponentially increasing by the day. In order to separately collect, effectively treat, and dispose of e-waste, as well as divert it from conventional landfills and open burning, it is essential to integrate the informal sector with the formal sector.
